Should the "funny" vote be called the "fun" vote?

Isn't this the same as my argument that "insightful" should be "interesting"? If the votes are for above average insightfulness or funniness, and to reward especially good comments or posts, then it should stay "funny".

If funny gets watered down and generalized, then insightful should too.

Honestly after thinking about it some more, I don't want to change the 'insightful' button, but I would be ok with changing the funny to fun, but I'm not sure it honestly matters all that much.

I kind of imagine it like a dartboard, insightful is the bullseye and "fun/funny" is the rest of the board. So I don't want to change insightful to interesting, because that changes the dartboard model, and also things can be interesting and not true, and I don't want people using the 2 point vote that way.

So I say we leave as is, or change funny to fun only. Either way is fine though, tbh

"Interesting" is superior.

Only because I can't always be so insightful. Also insightful things are usually interesting.

Redo them both please.

If votes are reserved for "above average", we first need a baseline for what's average. And without the ability to discern "good" or suitable posts from "bad" or unsuitable posts that's impossible (no downvote, no insight/funny for average posts).

I'd say votes should be used to discern whether it falls into the different categories for the user, and used generously as it encouragement for posters. The user get more content they like by subscribing to subs that has a culture for posts the user find insightful or funny.

Water it all down and let the users make their own lemonade.

Agreed, lower standards encourages more participation. It sounds like we might go for the switch and have Interesting and Fun as the two positive vote dimensions.
