You don't need a life change. What you need is to spend time looking inward to figure out where you are falling short of your potential which generally includes accepting responsibility for the numerous screw ups you've committed over the years but have yet to acknowledge in any real sense.

Picking up and moving to a "new life" is attractive because it's much easier to do than honest introspection, but you will still be the exact same person. You'll wake up in some new apartment 1/2 way around the world surrounded by the trappings of a new life but your reality will not have changed a single iota.

Running away is never a solution. Fix yourself first.

Really appreciate you taking the time to write such an insightful message. I guess I'm just overwhelmed economically, paying so much of my monthly income in rent is consuming me

Paying too much rent is actually something that could be solved by moving, so please don't take my comments as encouragement to stay where you are. But assuming you do not have obstacles like a handicap or some other disadvantage that is outside of your control then there are lots of things that you could do to make your life more bearable, so don't despair. But short of winning a lottery they all involve making choices -- some hard -- and taking personal responsibility. Are you up for it?

This is not rocket science and it's probably safe to assume that I'm not saying anything you haven't already thought of. But that does not make it any less true.
