Slaves were not attractive, intelligent, or hard working. If you don't currently have employees you have absolutely no need for a slave. With so many people in the world today, and automation having devalued labor, it would probably still be more beneficial to hire someone rather than own a slave.

Shit no, you have to take care of a slave. That work they do, it doesn't just happen. They need rudimentary food, shelter, and medical care to get any useful level of work out of them. You also need to keep them at least somewhat happy, otherwise they'll gold brick (at best) or actively work against you (at worst); you want someone who's pissed off at you handling your food or your balls?

And with how things are today, you fucking well know that there'd be all kinds of slave welfare groups out there, actively monitoring how you keep them. Just what you always wanted, a group with a CPS-like mandate to come in, turn your life upside down, and shake it vigorously to see if anything actionable falls out. If it's successfully argued that slaves aren't people, but livestock? Then you have animal rights groups up in your shit, and fucking one is akin to bestiality.

Slavery is legal. It's simply free range. When did you consent to paying tax? Just because you were born in a cage and it's all you know. Doesn't mean that you are free ;-)

Old school slavery is expensive and ineffective. When you can simply have people believe they are free and siphon off. Almost everything they make & earn. Add up employer fees, local tax, federal tax, sales tax, luxury tax, vehicle tax, property tax etc. You'll get so mad you won't know what to do with yourself. In the end all you get back is a place to indoctrinate your children & some roads to travel to and from work on ;-)
