Some of it is overpriced, but not really by that much. That stuff is still expensive to make. Gaming consoles can sell for $400-500, but only because they are being sold at a loss. The real money is in selling the games and online passes.

Well for parts that old it should be a lot cheaper (not free) but not out of reach. These computers you don't know when the hard drive will fail or the motherboard itself will fail as various things in it go. It's like Brave Little Toaster Munch and Crunch (I think that's the name of that song) where the big computer had all of it's lights go out by those 'bugs'. Same thing with any computer. Eventually internal things fail not just things attached.

In fact a lot of your 5 and a half inch floppies will eventually the filaments will fall out given enough time heat and pressure.
