It's just not a good platform for debate. Debates need to be done in person.

There hasn't been any UX/UI innovation in crowd sourcing sites since reddit. Even this site is basically a clone of that, and it's a good attempt at establishing superficial rules but not much in the area of features.

I don't think it's hard to come up with better solutions to forums that promote discussion and debate, but there isn't any effort in that space, unfortunately.

Good discussion is no longer possible because humanity has become retarded. But I am developing new forum software, and I welcome design suggestions in /s/FreedIt.

Debate takes time for people to think and research about stuff rather than just reacting and then write a decent response.
