I had black roommates for a couple years, good dudes too. Blacks have their own dialect, called Black or African-American English (AAE). Also known as Jive. Many, but not all, can switch between the two at will. They'd talk like a white person for me, but with their buds it was as incomprehensible to me as cajun patois.
