The Sun isn't getting hotter, not yet anyway, but the magnetic field is getting weaker, and that allows additional particle and radiation flux onto the surface, resulting in a combined energy level that is higher than what we have been used to.

Well, people have been talking about this climate change thing for a while, so maybe that's worth looking into.

Perhaps a genetical killswitch or something analogue ?

Perhaps grow some more "robust" plants, more "seldom" seeds or look at the chemistry... ?!?
