I have social anxiety but I learned to hide it and was pretty extroverted in high-school. Now I don't really like most people so I keep to myself. But I have no problem approaching people. The key is to realize that thier opinions are stupid and of no real value. No matter how perfect you are (and you don't have to think you are perfect) thier opinions won't reflect that. People make snap judgements based on the stupidest things.

Once you realize that how great you are makes no difference at all you stop feeling like you should be better. You stop wanting to be better. You realize that no matter how stupid you look it doesn't matter. Then you don't hesitate to say stupid shit just to fuck around. And that is the key to small talk.

It's not really to do with social anxiety or aptitude.

It's more about if you get more energy when you are around people people or if you find them draining.

But it depends on the people.
