It's the rise of the communist ideology.

Communists are workers, not beggars.

Try not working in a communist society, you'll end up in the re-education center real fast.

The communist ideology is one of both being oppressed and entitled.

As an example, a guy I know had Russians for neighbors in the early 2000s. They were only a few years in the USA from Russia, still then very deeply steepled in communist traditions.

This guy ran a side business of vendor machines and as a result, often had cases of soda in the bed of his truck. One time he comes back home from his run with some left overs in the truck bed. He's inside his house and sees the neighbor come and grab a few cans from the back of his truck.

Dude gets out, asks neighbor what he's doing and neighbor explained "I'm just taking a few cans of pop. You have many and we have none." And clearly from the tone of the dude and his demeanor, he fully expected this to be a respectable and sufficient explanation for his actions.

THAT is the communist ideology: by stifling the natural drive for self-starting, initiative, and improving one's life through their own means, it cultivates a reliance on others, meaning the state. And if the state doesn't provide, well... SOMEBODY HAS TO.

Don't believe me? Look into how people lived under the Communist regime in Eastern Europe.
