What exactly happened to Ruqqus, what other saidit-like sites are out there?

Abandoned? The ssl certs are still regularly updated, bots that censor offensive speech still work, submissions are still clearly oriented toward a certain objective, real users still post content every day, and the server is still regularly restarted. Did you have evidence to support your claim?

There have certainly been efforts to disrupt the website. Have they been successful? No, their schemes are clearly seen through. They are incentivized to destroy the website, whether it is to use it as a surrogate for their own fork, or to protect the individuals responsible for the events that have taken place there in the past year, I know not.

The last time I checked, the front page was full of garbage, all of which had been upvoted to 111 or thereabouts. When I made a post pointing this out, several accounts told me to fuck off and one actual account said that the creator was known to abandon the site for months at a time and that I shouldn't expect anything better. I left after that.

I'm not sure what your definition of garbage is but I hardly think that a smattering of varied articles -- not all of which are political -- is it. The content doesn't change as quickly as on saiddit, for example, but it is generally fresh enough that I visit once a day. If there's anything to complain about it's the dearth of comments. As of writing there's not a single post on the FP that's higher than 40.

I'm not saying notabug is great. In fact it's rather weak cheese. But it's not garbage either.

I don't blame you for leaving. I'm sorry this was your experience, but please understand how trying it is for those who actively want to see the website succeed. This abusive behavior is what led me to the predicament that I face (namely that I lost my life savings to go1dfish) and I supect this abuse to be paid for by some government, and closely tied to Havana Syndrome.
