These sites are so small and so slow that you don't need the resources of a nation state to disrupt them. You just need a few psychotic retards who love sharing worthless links 30 times a day.

I've been noticing there's quite a few pro-russian users here on Saidit.
[–]jet199 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun - 2 years ago (1 child)
Are they pro-Russian or anti-West though?
I've not seen many people singing about the glories of the motherland.
But there is a lot of "everything which happens in the world must be related to my country or this country I hate" which is a normal form of thinking.
What you guys don't realise is this is all the fault of Morocco.

I am pro-Russian, because Russia has been on the Good side of history since 1990. Where as USA and EU have not since then.
You cannot complain about Communism but keep Russia out of competing in capitalist markets, by hook or crook, at the same time.
USA owns: Mujahadin, Muslim Brotherhood, Taliban, Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Rebel Kurds - terrorist by-proxy Armies. And we used them against Russia all along.

Russia has been on the Good side of history since 1990
Do you know anything at all about the armed conflicts they started and what they have done before? Same tactics, different politicians.

I know Hezbollah belongs to Russia and mainly housed in Syria to poke at Israel whenever the Kremlin feels like it. But it's 1 vs. 6-8 by-proxy
armies held by USA. Fatah & Hammas are EU assets.
Invasions for profit (even if narcotics) started with Korea & Vietnam of course, Russia was first in Afghanistan, but we actively sent militants
trained in USA to fight the Russians (1982-84). Thus the birth of the Tali-brand...

Could be. What I'm saying is that the Russians are power hungry maniacs, and if you dislike the Western power hungry maniacs, it's not a clever move to support the Eastern ones instead.

Seems like all sites have shill issues, even saidit.
People using the short-sighted argument of "Why would they bother?" also are either shills or some normie happening upon the site that doesn't realize how with facebook controlled, these free speech type sites are where people are corralled and absolutely the place to attack and push forward misinfo/disinfo to confuse the real info that people share.

People do it for free you don't need the state

Hook nose shalom is for sure a shill. I dunno if he is paid or just a fervent democrats. But that guy shills hard.
That's a heavy question, pertaining as much to technology as anything, and the answer is not simple.
The first step is hardening your server against botting and making of bot accounts. Not impossible but takes programming.
To stop botting you must halt making new accounts from the same IP address for let's say a week. Restrictions must be set.
Problem is a lot of Admin. & Owner non-tech. newbies just run with default settings or have their server serviced by a corporation.
You cannot do that in today's day and age anymore, was ok 20yrs. ago or more.

What about those who use VPN's?
[–]asterias 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun - 2 years ago (0 children)
Unfortunately, to protect those sites from attacks admins restrict VPN access as well, which obviously hurts legitimate users who have valid needs to use a VPN.

VPNs, especially not ISP serviced VPNs are not what you think they are.
Route from your home to ISP on a commercial VPN - Exposed.
Route from your ISP to Commercial VPN Server - Exposed.
And protecting routes from hackers do not secure your server.
Beware Cloud Flare nodes though, those servers are installed by a different power for internet shutdown.

Poal admin has mentioned that there are some sneaky attacks trying to portrait the site as extremist. So I guess Poal.co does have a problem with state sponsored trolls, especially since those socks used some pretty smart methods to do their work.

AOU is a jew plant. He throws around accusations against his user base because of a mental illness. I am sure there are trolls and astroturfers but he regularly attacks his normal users, censors them, suspends and bans them for what amounts to "wrongthink" against his idea of a narrative.

Some democrat shills who believe that CNN or New York Times is news. They tend to use the "fact"-checkers and google as references too.

Realize their tactics now are to join, blend, participate then regularly pound the board with nonsense posts hoping to be seen by new users who conclude "this site is a waste of time"
