When did blue lefties start catching a clue. I thought they just ate the cheese without question.

Other way round. Problem with the 'left' is that they are not absolutely loyal to the Dems's approaches, and all of them want the Dems to do different things. (You remember the "yellow dog Democrats" of the '70s. Welp, that level of union single-party voting has shifted or is lost.) The 'Right' doesn't have this problem. The candidate who wants to challenge Roe v. Wade will easily get the right-wing votes, even if they are absolutely horrible as people and legislators. The 'Right' will be absolutely loyal to the GOP, without question, as if the GOP were the political wing of their magachurch. Like Trump has said (2016?), he could get away with murder. For some, he's literally Jesus. Dems don't think like that. For example, there are no Dems who absolutely LOVE Biden, partially because Biden is somewhat a moderate and often reaches across the aisle to make deals. Dems would like him to be bolder in his support of the 99%.

The argument is that five days is too short, people still have viral loads after 5 days. That this recommendation is more about getting us peasant workers back to work quicker than about our health.

I mean really, low level employees weren't allowed to call in sick for a single day without a doctor's note, and were often expected to work sick before the pandemic.

But it's not just that letting the plebs take too long to heal fucks up the supply chain, workers can't afford long unpaid quarantines.
