I still see myself as left.

However your reasoning is wrong. Believing there's an elite who should be given special treatment is very much a right wing opinion.

There's many branches of left and right.

It's not just racist/not racist.

How do you think people knew if they were left or right when everyone was racist?

In fact back in Victorian times many of the most anti racist people were fundamentalist Christians so it was considered right wing backwardness while the educated left were big on race science and eugenics.
