Thanks for this, /u/ActuallyNot . I've just seen it. Excellent points. If someone constantly breaks the rules, I agree it's important to make a point of it, especially when the rest of us are required to follow the rules (I have 2 "strikes" and will be banned with the 3rd strike, merely for saying twice what Carswell has said 100s of times. Not that we should be shocked that Carswell can continue bullying. But it's worth addressing the bullying on Saidit, for many reasons. Saidit would probably grow if the bullying was checked more often, though those of us who are bullied naturally lose all interest in making a point of this, or bothering to care about Saidit's future. Months ago I defended Carswell, diogenes, Muskrat and others when they were banned, writing quite a bit to the admins and community about them. I wanted to see their approaches on Saidit, even when we didn't agree (especially because we didn't agree). But because I've been rather honest with Carswell about his issues, this is one of the reasons he obviously hates me and is on record trying to get me banned on many occasions. That's of course his problem to worry about. Would I still want him to be banned. I don't know. His bullying keeps Saidit from growing, but he's not the only person bullying. Do I want Saidit to grow? I don't know. If it did grow, would be a leading spreader of right-wing and alt right disinformation propaganda? Seems so. Moreover, is Saidit truly a "free speech" website? Is it truly "non-partisan"? Does it really address corruption, if indeed we see so much propaganda in the posts (paid for by a corrupt influencer racket funded by GOP PACs, donors and corporations). As with any community, there will be odd developments and contradictions, and if Saidit does grow, I think we'll see - by necessity - more interesting approaches to these developments (for better or worse). It can be an interesting place, minus the bullying.

If someone constantly breaks the rules

Do you mean you or Jason?

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

I refer to the alt accounts that returned 2 days later to upvote your comment.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

That's the kind of thing my nemesis claims on Reddit. We've been fighting for years. It started because she figured nobody would ever upvote the things I said so I must have been creating accounts to upvote myself. We've been fighting for years. She says things like... Shit, I don't really pay attention. But then I say things like your bf killed himself to get away from you -- which is totally true. He did it right in front of her. She's the kind of woman guys are dying to avoid.

You can't be my nemesis though, only hot chicks may apply.

I get called back to posts 2 days later by comment responses and I double upvote everyone except the shills. It's how I see who I've already read, and it is community support on this "dead" site - and it's faster than actually deciding who is "insightful" or "fun" (unless they really don't deserve one). Does it skew the scores much? Does it matter?

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It's not just you, I revisit old threads too. Socks just thinks people target him. It's understandable.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Socks just thinks people target him. It's understandable.

He's idiotic with blinders, or is shilling, and if not shilling and if he just wakes up, he can stop the lying and thus stop the attacks. We're targeting the lies, but he refuses to see he's a liar.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

No offence mate, but no one should blame her/himself for another's suicide, no matter how relevant.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

No offense taken. She literally drove him to suicide. I know, you're supposed to say it's not their fault, but people who do that -- kill themselves in front of another person -- do that for a reason. It was totally her fault.

[–]JasonCarswell 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

what Carswell has said 100s of times

Lies.

that Carswell can continue bullying

Lies.

Calling out your whiny bullshit is NOT bullying.

But it's worth addressing the bullying on Saidit, for many reasons.

True.

As long as you lie, I won't care about what happens to you.

Soon, I aim to work on some /s/SaidItCommunity stuff, that can also apply to other forums (ie. Cassandra Team projects and more), focused on bottom-up decentralized social management rather than top-down dictates. Among the many areas of potential, this includes making open transparent lists and records to collect evidence on problematic users to not only build up cases for banishment if necessary, but also to help clearly educate visitors, newbs, and rare to casual users to the infiltration agents of chaos that infect all social media, as well as their techniques. Naturally I welcome folks to make a list on me if they like. Critically important: this must not turn into an unjust witch hunt, immediately or via slow corruption over time.

If you are interested, socks, you may participate in these discussions that may impact your future, to help ensure they are fair, and maybe you might actually contribute something good to this world. For starters we need good ideas and decent neutral terms for our social-media-self-management projects, including these "Caution Lists" for lack of a better name.

Further, if you are interested in actually developing some reasonable ideas to address actual bullying (or more broadly and simply, civil discourse), you may contribute your concepts for SaidIt Community consideration.

Saidit would probably grow if the bullying was checked more often, though those of us who are bullied naturally lose all interest in making a point of this, or bothering to care about Saidit's future.

I've been rather honest with Carswell about his issues, this is one of the reasons he obviously hates me

False.

What issues? If you have issues with me, they're still your issues. See a therapist, preferably one with expertise with compulsive liars.

False.

I don't hate you.

I hate your sealioning, your lies, your authoritarianism, your big pharma propaganda, and your prolific, distracting timesuckage.

Stop lying and I stop calling out your bullshit.

and is on record trying to get me banned on many occasions.

True.

Or simply raising the question IF socks should be banned.

His bullying keeps Saidit from growing, but he's not the only person bullying.

Lies.

Stop lying and people will stop calling out your bullshit, which in /s/Victimhood terms you call "bullying".

As with any community, there will be odd developments and contradictions, and if Saidit does grow, I think we'll see - by necessity - more interesting approaches to these developments (for better or worse).

/s/SaidItCommunity stuff might be some more interesting approaches, odd developments, and some contradictions - for the better, to reduce the worse.

It can be an interesting place, minus the bullying.

It's not lying or whining - it's merely a bit of history - of which many on Saidit are well aware. Repeated attempts to gaslight and discredit users like me (by repeatedly telling us we're lying) is, by the way, another form of bullying. It pushes people away from Saidit, as they don't want to read this kind of hostility, or indeed be the potential victims of it. This is just an obvious observation, nothing more. Don't worry about it.

[–]JasonCarswell 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

I offer a golden opportunity to contribute constructively to SaidIt Community, the fucking goal is wide open, you could take a shot, but you just whine about an unfair playing field. Pathetic.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Jason - seriously - people tend to avoid bullies, or if we must confront them, it's not because we really want to. If however someone is into S&M, that's another story. You might enjoy sadism, IDK.

[–]JasonCarswell 5 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

It seems you're a masochistic glutton for punishment, and argumentative curmudgeon with no life, or work for big pharma, otherwise why would you just prolifically hang out on SaidIt perpetually sealioning and lying making you so clearly unpopular here. This post has clearly been read and responded to, but obviously we know you two are a bad joke.

Do you hear my whining and crying like a snowflake about you calling me a bully? Fuck no. Your bullshit and lies don't carry any weight with me, but I still call it out for those who don't know you. YOU are the malevolent misinformation you pretend to fight.

Now, go fuck yourself.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

So your response is - more bullying and potential paranoid schizophrenia - as usual. No wonder others want you banned. I also see potential evidence here of you voting for yourself. In any event, keep it up Jason. Watch the impact this has on Saidit (with the sadistic bulling, coupled with schizo - "come join our sub, and take more bullying because you deserve it"! - and visitors making the usual comments about Saidit as a small schizo right-wing place. Saidit can be better than this.). Don't bother responding to me again. You obviously cannot cope with my responses, hence the bullying.

[–]ActuallyNot[S] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I have 2 "strikes" and will be banned with the 3rd strike, merely for saying twice what Carswell has said 100s of times.

Whoa! Really?

I thought that this place was attracting the conspiracy theory nutjobs and the 13 year old edgelords who say "nier nier ni**er cuck cuck cuck" because they weren't tolerated in most forums. I didn't know that they're actively weeding out rational voices here.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yes - sadly. If people complain enough about you to mods and admins, you can get a strike for "name-calling". I called someone an asshole (which I can do on Reddit), and 7 days later, after several complaints to an admin, I got a strike. (Edit: and I've been called every name in the book, on a regular basis, thoug recently enjoyed the title of 'malfunctioning meme'. For the serious hatred comments, I can select 'report' - under the comment - but I don't think this matters much, so I leave things as they are. You can read in the 'moderation log' at the bottom right when a reported comment was 'approved' to remain, or on rare occasion, 'removed'.)
