You said it yourself: at first, they were just silly. I remember stumbling onto their sub and literally thinking it was the most bizarre place I'd ever seen online, second only to reddit and 4chan, both of which I despise.

But after their account banning, I was silenced from commenting due to something I said on one of their pages, and they tried to coerce me into making a new account to circumvent the silencing. I told em to eat shit, and they promptly tried to suck me into their bs.

I'm a young guy. I got onto the internet knowing I'd find dumb shit like that. It's almost to be expected. But I have no reason to entertain it. I will probably take the route u/Node takes and activate the sock-block.

But those Ironleft guys went from funny, to bothersome, to downright intrusive. People like that can eat dirt, in my honest opinion.

If we are to believe u/socks, no one takes anything on Saidit seriously. I take most things seriously, maybe that's a fault of mine, I'm not sure.

Not sure if I caught all the iron left antics, but those front page posts were amusing, and were calling out some legitimate problems, like the unfair bannings. I like to think guys like that could be converted back to decent users, but maybe I'm too optimistic.

I'm not optimistic about socks. He's a weird case. I've seen him act like a normal person, but then he drops into that disingenuous shill act like he has no control over it. It's like multiple personalities or something.

The downside of blocking is that it blocks comments by the shill, and all replies that follow in that thread. I've seen a LOT of blank pages, due to that.

The trick, I think, would be to be able see and read their comment, without succumbing to the sudden desire to reply and refute their latest bullshit.

If you've been getting sucked into replying to him, see if doing something like making his tag "DO NOT REPLY TO THIS SHILL/TROLL" might help. Whatever helps you not click the reply button will save you a lot of annoyance.

Your advice is the one I'll take, seeing as he's here until he slips up one too many times in front of D3rr.

were calling out some legitimate problems, like the unfair bannings.

There were more cons than pros to that nonsense. Sure they were raising awareness about some real issues, but also mixing in spin and bullshit. Further, they were using the legit issues as a shield of righteousness when they were anything but that. Also, by association of addressing the same issues as I was, they confused many while smearing the issues and me in the minds of many. Some may still hold a grudge for "causing" drama and/or even blame me for M7's disappearance much later. I didn't need to sensationalize M7's behaviour which spoke for itself.

They were not redeemable.

to be able see and read their comment, without succumbing to the sudden desire to reply and refute their latest bullshit.

With enough coding there are countless ways to modify and improve the block function. Newer posts are highlighted, perhaps the "blocked" could be highlighted in red or auto-collapsed or something else.

I won't block/censor content. I also won't bother engaging them, further. I don't have enough time for their shit and to save the world.

If tags were a thing on SaidIt, there are dozens of other tags I'd want to have before we make that one, but it wouldn't be bad.

Having better things to do than arguing will help.

If tags were a thing on SaidIt

Tags are a thing on Saidit. Here is yours.

Install RES for saidit and this magic can be yours too.

That's the old me, before big pharma destroyed my life.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No matter where we go, there we are.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

I think they became downright disruptive from the efforts made to prevent their participation. That's something you gotta expect...

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Aye, but when I got silenced, I asked for another user to speak on my behalf. Isn't that what a right-minded individual would do if met with adversity? Meet it calmly first then respond with vitriol or defensive tactics if needed?

Personally, I'm of the opinion that Pastor Johnny/Monkeyballs/skeeter is of the same ilk. If I were banned with no true appeal or process of justice, I'd depart and call it a good riddance. I think children act the way those guys act.

Perhaps I am just being hard on them because they tried to rope me into their nonsense, and it made me hesitant to use this website at all. I hate troll behavior, but understand it's use.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Of course. Nobody's trying to say that IronLeft has anything in common with right-mindedness or any sort of wholesomeness.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

They were definitely humorous, I remember laughing at their early interactions with the userbase.

If we are to believe u/socks, no one takes anything on Saidit seriously

Not my opinion regarding Saiditors. If I said this, it's was obviously not in reference to most of the active Saiditors.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 4 fun -  (2 children)

If you want me to make you eat your words, I'll make a thread filled with your insults against Saiditors. Please don't delete the evidence of your lies.

You often make jokes about the website and the users, although you also backpedal often and cozy up to the users who don't call you out.

Edit: u/JasonCarswell it just seems to me like socks wants to be confronted so they can go limp like a weasel. Waste of time imo.

[–]JasonCarswell[S] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Yes. It's a professional timesuck op. Limp Weezil sounds like a '90s band.

I was going to start a new sub with a wiki, but I have to wait. Or you, or anyone interested, can start it and we can discuss what its purpose is, what it's about, what critical and ethical problems and abuses to avoid, and how we can effectively track and trace STABs' activity while abiding by the rules.

Initially I thought /s/Shills might do, but now I'm thinking /s/SaidItCommunity would be more positive, with wider potential for much much more, and generally better all around, unless /u/d3rr thinks that sounds too much like it's officially affiliated with the SaidIt management. We could have disclaimers starting off the sidebox saying that we are bottom-up self-organizing independent of this site's top-down management. Or /s/Community may be preferred.

It's also better because I have several other ideas for not just this online community but many of them overlap with Facebook groups, my local Windsor Resistance and sub-groups, and organizing the world, as well as other SaidIt and Cassy specific things that have been bouncing around in my skull for months.

Before anyone starts yet another new sub, maybe there's one that might already be acceptable. I've listed all remotely SaidIt-related subs I'm aware of in the sidebox of /s/IdeasForSaidIt. Lemme know if I missed any.

Maybe this will be just more bureaucratic bullshit. Maybe it can be effective. We won't know until we try. If we don't try then we'll just have to suck up their bullshit along with global tyranny. More importantly, I'd rather work on building fair open community systems for SaidIt and eventually Cassy, and beyond, than waste time arguing with STABs.

Don't tell lies, by referring to comments out of their original contexts. If you are serious about Saidit, stop attacking me and quoting me out of context, as this repeatedly breaks rule 1. "Backpeddling" also doesn't refer to me.
