As a moderator of the sub in question, it's obvious we are kept off s/all because magnora does not want SaidIt to appear to be an alt-right site. He found a bad excuse to take use off, but the reality is all of these "free-speech" alternatives eventually get overrun by dissident-right types because we are the most censored. So, it's sort of a weird balance we have to strike where we need a home but are also censored by the pro-"free-speech" alternatives we migrate to.

I don't really blame magnora for taking us off - I just wish him and the other admins would be more honest about what they're doing. Or give us some deal with more stringent rules, whatever. We like getting visitors who aren't alt-right already

I don't like s/debatealtright, but so long as yall don't censor opposing opinions high on the Pyramid of Debate — which I have yet to see — yall should be in s/all. The other admins disagree, obviously, but yall ain't broke the rules as they're written.

[–]cisheteroscum 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Glad, thanks for saying so.

We've been around the block enough to know we will be censored no matter what eventually. So it's not something we aren't used to. But, frankly, we like SaidIt. We want to stay and want to help improve it. But we also like non-alt-right visitors. If we need to change rules or something to get others into the conversation then we are open to that

Yall are originally from Reddit, right?

If we need to change rules or something to get others into the conversation then we are open to that

I ain't got no authority to make decisions like that, but I'd let yall on s/all as is.

[–]cisheteroscum 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Yes. All mods and most users, at least

I ain't got no authority

I know, I was just speaking hypothetically

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's what I thought.

[–]Jesus 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

i feel like all should be based on the top three best voted posts in a sub. That way it doesn't get overrun by one sub.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's a good solution. I personally prefer the way traditional forums do stuff, where the front page is just a list of topics, and posts are sorted by new.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (19 children)

The mods should have to win 1 debate against the sub. That won’t happen.

[–]fschmidt 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (18 children)

One can't debate with retards who can't follow a logical argument, so debate against that sub is not possible.

[–]Dragonerne[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (17 children)

Haha, post nose, my guy. What's the chances of you being a jew?

[–]fschmidt 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (16 children)

See what I mean?

[–]Dragonerne[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (15 children)

Are you a jew or not?
Edit: See what I mean? ;)

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes he is Jewish. He’s told me in previous posts.

[–]Dragonerne[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Apparently he has tried getting one of our subs banned previously. Not that surprising that he calls our sub "retarded"

[–]fschmidt 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (12 children)

What does that have to do with my point? Whether or not you guys are retards has nothing to do with whether I am a jew.

In addition, your question is ambiguous. One can be religiously/culturally jewish or one can be racially jewish. I assume mean racially just because you retards are too stupid to understand religion or culture. But you still should say what you mean.

[–]Dragonerne[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (11 children)

The point is to show why you would smear our sub with disgusting language.

[–]fschmidt 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

I was simply reciprocating with the language that members of your sub used with me. I guess the general sequence goes like this:

  1. non-white on your sub: "Hello, I would like to say X. Note that I am not white."
  2. moronic members of your sub: (ignoring X) "You disgusting non-white."
  3. non-white: "But what about X?"
  4. moron: "You disgusting non-white."

After such a sequence, how can there be any doubt that your sub is populated by morons who deserve to be insulted?

[–]Jesus 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks cisheteroscum. I think optics wise, if magnora and saidit stick to the PoD then growing the sub so not to be turned away from alt-right truth on ALL might be a good thing. Then the sub can be re-integrated back on All. So many people will be turned off by posts about Jews just because they have been brainwashed to believe a certain viewpoint. Then again, r/conspiracy is full of similar posts but that's mostly my posts.

[–]JasonCarswell 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

That's not it. It's a matter of domination by numbers. If every other post is from one large sub then it's dominating the front page.

I also hate it when people are lazy and only post in /s/conspiracy or /s/politics when their posts can easily fit in more specific topical subs.

Perhaps removing those subs from /s/All may be in order too, thus forcing folks to be more selective about where they post.

Of course a master list or few about categorized sub topics would be handy and worth promoting.

[–]cisheteroscum 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I think we're saying the same thing. But as I said, our official cause for removal was not stated in such straightforward terms. I would just appreciate the honesty

Actually I agree that that is a valid criticism of SaidIt, and of our sub in particular. On Reddit, we were used to being quarantined and being a smaller community (relative to the overall size of reddit) so people posted directly to the sub to get our takes on whatever was happening. People still do this as if that is the case, when posts probably belong elsewhere on saidit. We should be making a bigger effort to branch out into other subs (but would magnora even want that?)

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I would just appreciate the honesty

Agreed.

that is a valid criticism of SaidIt

In almost all of the subs I've created or moderated I've created lists of "Related Subs" to make people aware of some topics people may not know existed - and so they can know they have a place to post stuff.

We should be making a bigger effort to branch out into other subs (but would magnora even want that?)

I can't speak for M7 or anyone, but I would want that.

I think M7 and my political views are very very similar and not extremist unless you consider wanting less centralized and corrupt power (minarchist/voluntaryist) to be extremist. I believe he likes civil debates with unique views on things even more than I do. I like being exposed to new ideas but my patience wears out with endless debates, especially when it may be better to agree to disagree and recognize that many different views may simultaneously be valid.

Numbers.... These number games. Are you exhilarated by getting numbers ?

What is the point here ? You got two types of users:

  • Most users are only reading and reading "main" subs which has its implications by itself

  • "Hardcore"-users having "conversations" in not so mainstream-subs

So who do you wanna hurt by implementing something here ?

Numbers.... These number games. Are you exhilarated by getting numbers ?

Nope. I'm interested in getting good info from many viewpoints and sources.

What is the point here ?

If /s/All is dominated by a sub or few then that's not as many as it could be.

Most users are only reading and reading "main" subs which has its implications by itself

"Hardcore"-users having "conversations" in not so mainstream-subs

I'm not sure if by "main" you mean the default subs you get when you sign up, with whatever new subscriptions anyone bothers to make. Or do you mean the /s/All subs?

What implications do you mean? I haven't thought much on this.

So who do you wanna hurt by implementing something here ?

I don't wish to hurt anyone, nor implement anything.

For one thing this is our community but not my site.

Thus far I've stated that I agree with the extant policy of keeping very popular subs off /s/All. I also recognize that not only would DAR be better if they extended beyond their bubble to post in other subs, but I think that the /s/All folks are missing out by not having interactions with the limited subs (not on /s/All) and private subs (for whatever reason).

Further, I've been talking with folks about it to see if we can find better solutions, both here on SaidIt and wherever else we branch out to, together or not.

You're seeking demons where there aren't any.

Saruman? If you wanna get a army of orcs doing your bidding this is the way it is Not gonna work.

[–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

What have you got in mind?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Magnora has told us he just thinks the name is bad for the brand.

[–]cisheteroscum 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

FTR, magnora literally said

I regularly see news items posted in the sub that have nothing to do with debating or alt-right, things that could easily be posted in /s/news instead. It seems there is an effort to make sure this site is framed as an alt-right site, by making sure this sub is on the front page regularly, and I don't want that for saidit because it undermines the quality of the website.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

THIS

This is what I was saying. Your community may post in other topical subs without being sidelined. If you did that then your ideas would spread and the /s/DebateAltRight would be only about debating Alt-Right ideas. If the number of DAR posts went down because all the posts were distributed to other subs then those other posts as well as the DAR posts would still be voted on their merits. With the DAR posts being less frequent then they might have a fair chance to be on /s/All among all the other posts, including the topical stuff that formerly would have been inaccurately categorized as DAR.

TL;DR: Escape the DAR bubble and contribute to all the subs and maybe DAR can join /s/All.

[–]blowininthewind 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

as a longtime user of saidit i can't agree more. all the alternative reddits have became alt-right sites: voat, gab, raqqus, parler, etc.

this balance is hard to keep, but it's totally worth trying.
