i'm too blind to notice the old ones were blurry. But why not just fix the blur?

A lot of us don't have good enough eyesight to think anything of the old icons being blurry. I didn't either. But when it was mentioned I noticed.

But why not just fix the blur?

D3 said something about an accident. I don't think there was an easy way to clean up the originals.

I bet I could. 10000 hours in MS paint and all that. why didn't they ask?

This place isn't run like a corporation (eg. Conde Naste). Someone proposed a good approach to icons and it was accepted.

The small icons were blown up and thus blurry on phones.

Making them vector images would have been easy. Making the code accept vector images may have been another thing all together.
