I think the problem is having "friends" on a web site. Come on, what's the deal? Just post interesting links and write comments. If someone is actually a friend then add them to some kind of chat program.

All of this site drama lately seems to be coming from people who spend waaaay too much time here. :(

Rich coming from you.

I valued DioJr's insights. We were considering collaborating on some things too.

Why do you have to collaborate on this website? There are thousands of others. Add him on a messaging client.

Why does anyone? Why do you?

I'm here for the content and community. These you won't find anywhere else.

Ah. There's your problem. The "community". There's no "community" here, it's just a bunch of random people posting on a website. They post interesting stuff, and leave comments. That's all. Pretending it's something that it's not is the root of the fallacy here.

I agree. As you know, I've been curious about Saidit for the past couple months, and I do see here on a regular basis approximately 10 users who - though they want to support a free speech site - will abuse the fuck out of anyone who does not agree with them. M7 and others know this. Those 10 users, including Chipit and Airbus, should try to listen to other approaches on Saidit (if those users bother to return). As Amelia has previously argued (I vaguely recall), Saidit is at its best when there is diversity (in several senses of that term) and less extremism (at both ends). But the disinformation and misinformation posts are among the favorites on this site, and questioning them will prompt abuses against that user. As noted on Reddit - regarding Saidit - it's a bunch of schizo rejects who like to discuss /r/pol (or something like that). My main point here is that Saidit is indeed a community, even if one might wonder why 10 users have taken over the politics discussions, and sometimes draw down the discussion into idiotic insults because they can't debate. I like discussing alternernative approaches to politics, so I return to Saidit to see what the Alt-right thinks. One of the informative contributors has been /u/diogenesjunior, though I often disagreed with him. At least he could carry on a discussion. I hope more Saiditors will follow the pyramid of debate rules, and thereby engage in debate rather than hurl insults. This would help diversify the community. And it may never happen without 'downvote' buttons, but that's another discussion. I also hope they'll PM M7 in support of /u/diogenesjunior.

Excellently insightful.

I don't agree with DioJr on all things either, and shouldn't need to.

SaidIt is vastly superior without a downvote. This was genius on M7 and/or D3's parts.

Yep this, Jason takes this site way too seriously

I think I kind of agree with you there. This site is like a small community 4chan.

I like stumbling on a banter between Sock and airbus. It's always entertaining. They are like Sasuke and Naruto pretending to hate each others.

Your first mistake was thinking Jason might understand an anime reference.

If you compared it maybe to the old generals in /vg/ where it's the same people that visit, I could kinda see similarities.

Ironically professional animator is my lifelong career. I've just never gotten into anime (nor video games) and for the last 20 years I've had little interest in the animation world. I do love to see the big glossy animated movies on occasion though, even if some of them have incomprehensibly repulsive character designs.

Western cartoons have gotten... uglier in the last 20 years. Obviously there's outliers, but the reliance on cg has made everything just.. gross, and lack the personality that older cartoons had.

Can't argue with that too much even though it's a broad generalization. Some of it is a lack of talent, a lack of leadership, a lack of aesthetics, and/or a lack of style.

Sasuke and Naruto

I didn't know if those were 4chan folks or what so I had to look that up. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Sasuke+and+Naruto&iar=images
