SaidIt does not directly support Tor, we have no onion address. Also if any civil disobedience was grey area, it would likely clash with the content policy. Maybe start your own site, with this code or another.

Federation is the answer but it's not here yet for reddits.

I'm starting to believe this is the way forwards, maybe different platforms and front ends, with the same userbase/DB. Something like LBRY and Odysee, how a new front end, with new features could be built but using the same content. If someone wanted to join the federation of saidit and notabug, ie get access through and API or even better access to the GunDB peer server...would this be possible?

yes, notabug would probably be stoked to have a new site join their decentralized gunDb network. it's very free speech oriented too. saidit/reddit just has the same old API as ever.

(notabug added a special content importer for saidit content, it's a one way sync but it can grab content from any saidit/reddit.)

Didn't know that about notabug. That is great news. I've been saying the reddit model needed to federalized since mastodon first happened. This is the first time I've heard someone was actually finally moving in that direction.

Still a very long ways to go though. Probably needs a whole new platform software to be developed from the ground up like gnu social.

you might also want to check out lemmy and lotide who are working on federated reddit.

Yes, their overt politics is kinda cringe, but they got a grant to finish the dang thing asap. I'm hopeful about it.

yea.. but main mastodon ain't much better...

as long as it works the same way I don't care if they use it for censorship for their own little enclaves as long as it allows for freedom for the rest of us who choose it. That was the original design of the reddit/slashdot/digg model. To allow the individual to make those decisions, not the organization.

Amen man, power to the people right on.

Best revolution success would be to create alternative communities which interact privately unto themselves. As the old system devolves, good people will flock to the stable options. No shots need to be fired for a victory.

Yeah, but what if those become outlawed?

Incentive to violence wouldn't be promoted.

You think Gandhi liberated India with his peaceful movement ?

Food for thought .

Would SaidIt be a proper host for such requirements?

It'd have to be on the dark web

Dark Web is completely under the thumb of the Deep State. Don't bet your lives on it.

[–]LarrySwinger2 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

In what way is it under its thumb?

[–]whistlepig 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Its retarded to think that a single web site would be helpful for such a thing. If you really want to answer your question you should look around you and see what it really going on. Its not a single web site and it certainly isn't just the internet either.

So far revolutions have been attempted through both Twitter and WhatsApp. However both those platforms now have measures to stop that happening again including governments shutting the whole app/site down. Indeed often when there's political disturbance governments will cut internet and mobile signals across the country to prevent organisation via phone so its now pretty useless.

Even if you could use these apps or their less censoring knock offs you'd first need to build up a social network of people numbering in the thousands for it to work. People who start revolutions need to be popular I'm afraid.

Do you think there can be a revolution without any violence?

[–]raven9 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes. You have to attack your enemy where it hurts them. Violence does not hurt them, in fact they encourage violence because it just gives them an excuse to use the law enforcement weapons they spent so much time building, and to also vilify you in the media.

Hit them where it hurts: stop paying FEDERAL taxes.

The best platform for a revolution would depend on the specific goals and circumstances of the movement. Social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook, have been used to organize and promote political and social movements in recent years. However, it is important to consider the potential downsides of using these platforms, such as censorship and the ability of governments and other entities to monitor and track organizers. Additionally, traditional forms of organizing and grassroots mobilization, such as in-person rallies and community organizing, can also be effective in creating change. https://trilaen.com/

To assume that a single website could serve this purpose well is absurd. The best way to find the answer to your query is to observe the world around you. Neither is it limited to a particular connections game website or even the world wide web.
