They’re related. But back then fracking and oil sands weren’t certain yet. Only after the USA production ramped up, things changed. The main concern was about how long the huge old wells in middle-East can last with the demand, as new discoveries had peaked and large scale fracking was unproved and possible capability questioned. 2004 it looked way different than what last decade came to be.

Weeell, peak oil is still a thing I would say, it just shifts back somewhat

Yeeep. And it’s gonna mess us all badly when it happens. My favourite conspiracy theory is that when ever huge things like Corona restrictions happen, it is just cover for sneaky peakoil- preparations by the goverments. Alas, they ain’t that clever. :D

You actually might be right about that one, eheh, had a same sneaky feeling a few times. And yeah, peak oil is going to be baaaaad, considering that our entire industrial civilization is literally built on two mountains of energy - coal and oil, which are slowly eroding. What makes it a bit less dreadful is that I heard most of oil (about 80%) is used up in urban environments, probably in large part by personal transportation, meaning the crisis will probably be cushioned by phasing out cars and rationing for more vital transportation (shippings, etc)

Long overdue I say, as a reader of WrathOfGNON, I agree cars mutated cities for worse

Alas, they ain’t that clever. :D

Man I hope so :( They often feel either completely retarded or very well planned depending on what you think their goals are
