Yeah I think it would take out a lot of satellites. I dunno, satellites don't need much shielding since mostly they're within the magnetic field. There might be very high orbit one that might use massive amounts though, who knows.

I been drinky. I've also been writing a hard-sci-fi story and I've considered adding a little EMP action just to add some unnecessary edutainment drama. There's already too much for the screenplay, but it could be good extra material for the novelization.
Imagine being on a space station and an EMP takes out all the electrics. Ruh-roh. Then, either you die or find a solution. I don't have a solution. So it's interesting, but not outstanding.
