I have a small backyard garden that I use for some of my food. I'm interested in finding other ways to be self-sufficient as well. In the future, I might start an herb garden for herbal remedies.
Note: for the purposes of this thread, products made in your local community count towards being self-sufficient. For example, if your neighbor makes candles and you buy all your candles from them, that's worth mentioning. I include this because I'm not sure it's possible to be 100% self-sufficient and live a modern lifestyle.
