  • A lot of incest irl involves exploitation (parents abusing children).
  • It's bad for genetic health reasons. It's important to keep the taboo imo. It seems fairly hard-coded in humans and other animals to avoid mating too closely.
  • It seems like it messes up what these familial relationships are supposed to be about. Damages the fabric of society. Messes up support networks.
  • It is deeply disturbing to me and I'm happy to keep it that way.

just in case it needs to be said, you can compare homosexuality to whatever, it's fine.

I think all pornography should be behind a paywall. It doesn't even have to be a hefty paywall - hell 0.50 would do... but we need something to help alert parents to when their children are access porn. And I say this as a huge supporter of free speech.

I honestly don't know how much it would help though because when you go to parenting forums you always find parents who are so pro-porn it's shocking. Someone will post about finding porn on their pre-teens computer, and ask for help, and there are always a ton of responses saying you shouldn't shame your child for their sexuality, and you should just explain to them that porn is fake TV sex and they shouldn't expect real sex to be that way.

That is the most ignorant response I have ever heard of. Explaining to children that porn debases not only the actors, but also the viewers is not a bad thing, and not shaming children for their sexuality. It's perfectly possible to raise a child with a healthy view of sex without exposing them to shit that is going to actually fuck up their sexuality for the rest of their lives. But I think a lot of people are so resistant to unpacking what porn might have done to their own views on sexuality, that they refuse to think about it.

But I realize that's not exactly a precise answer to your question. Your question was about censorship based on who is engaged in the sex act, not about porn overall. Honestly, it's hard for me to get over my overall negative view of porn to get to an unbiased answer, but I'll try.

I guess when you talk about incest, you also have to talk about rape - because if you're talking about a parent having sex with their child, that's rape. Not because of the familial relationship, but because that's going to be a much older adult, who has power and authority over the person they're having sex with. And there would probably be a fair amount of grooming going on. So, to say that it's just like any other erotica sub is a bit dishonest. It's a sub that's filled with stories of rape.

But is fucking animals rape? I mean, I assume they allow the furries to write erotica about having sex. But even then, don't both participants usually pretend to be animals, rather than a human having sex with an animal?

I don't know. Doesn't quarantining a sub just make it so that it doesn't show up with you google something about reddit, but it still lets anyone visit it? If that's the case, what does it even matter?

    Blech.

Your comment didn't really address the point, which I think is - to what extent should people govern what consenting adults are doing? Rape and molestation are already illegal, so what does banning incest accomplish?

Speaking of which there are a lot of furry comics with incest. They are a lot nicer than the real thing probably.

Incest should be criminalized and looked down uppon by society

If it's consensual (as in actually informed consent without coercion or power imbalance stuff) and there is no breeding, then I can't find any moral objection to it.

There is something called the Westermarck Effect, by which people tend to be sexually repulsed by people they have grown up with closely -- that is, their family. The evolutionary basis is pretty easy to understand. Inbreeding tends to produce unhealthy offspring. Those who don't screw their own family have healthier children with better survival and breeding odds. Evolution dislikes incest.

I think a lot of people feel the "ick" factor and then invent overreaching moral objections to incest altogether. Actually, I think this is how a lot of people develop their morals. They feel something is bad in their "guts" and try to come up with reasons for why that feeling is correct.

In truth, if there is no inbreeding between immediate family, nor continued inbreeding (over several generations) between extended family, then there is no concern over healthy offspring. If the relationship is consenting and all involved are satisfied, then it is immoral to prevent it, as it treads on the rights of the participants.

So: The "consenting adults'' rule applies. The "gross" feeling you get is not a substitute for proper moral reasoning.

I mean because of family power dynamics that exist in every family incest cant really be consensual. plus its degenerate. inbreeding is harmful to our species
