What do you think about Voat?

It is a lot more active than Saidit and is increasingly getting plagued by what appear to me to be psy-opps intended to contain it. The vote system makes it hard for trolls to spam it so they have turned to other tactics. One is to be extremely hostile to newcomers. This limits voats growth to only those desperate enough or thick skinned enough to deal with it. Increasingly there is a flood of fake news on current topics. I believe this is intended to get voaters to be made fools of when trying to discuss these topics outside of voat. Everything seems to get turned up to 11 in terms of rhetoric. Everyone gets accused of being a Jewish shill, especially those who hold sway with right wingers. Trump, for example. This is also propaganda pushed by trolls.

If you want to discuss the "replacement theory" on the grounds of provable facts like the collapsing white population, the anti white rhetoric in media and schools etc, the trolls will try to push you as far to the extreme as they can until you just sound like a kook. That is far easier than trying to convince you that you are wrong and the facts you have don't matter. They want you to rile against jews because that is a trigger word that makes most people tune you out. They want you to make claims about things that are unprovable, like people's motivations, to keep you away from talking about facts.

It is a common tactic to take someone's argument and extrapolate it to an absurd degree as a way to argue against it. That is how I see ideological extremists. They are just as likely to be propagandists who believe the exact opposite as they are to be crazies who believe it. And on Voat it used to be that the discussions were reasonable, now they are not. It started with DDoS and such and only after that failed did Voat become radicalized.

So it is worth taking a look keeping in mind that there is a lot of fake news at the moment and a lot of extremism; just don't hold it against everyone. There is still occasional good content, and at the very least it is keeping the trolls busy and distracted.

I like it. I'm really glad it exists. It's one of the places I actually feel most safe and supported on the internet ... that should really tell you something about how hostile the internet as a whole has gotten towards my demographic simply for existing at all.

We should have better forums though. It's not very practically oriented. I'm coming to realize it's more anti-"PC" than it is pro-white. You tell me I can't make fun of black people? Let's make fun of black people! You tell me I can't make fun of women? Let's make fun of women! You tell me I have to support LGBT? I'll oppose LGBT! You tell me whites are bad and evil and guilty? I'll be pro-white! Which is a disappointment, though there also seem to be many genuinely pro-white and pro-American people on there.

There's some disturbing stuff there though. It seems very free-speech and that means there's some deeply disturbing stuff on there sometimes.

There's a lot of content I don't like there, but when people are going around praising people looting and killing and violently imposing their will on others, I feel like a bit of a cuck for wanting to speak against people on voat talking about the same thing when the discussion is already so distorted.

I agree but it's very toxic. I see a lot of weird things there, including racist and conspiracy posts. I am very curious about the antisemitic posts, are the jews secret overlords that control everything? Im not sure how Voat came to be like this, I do advocate free speech though. I don't fully agree that they advocate for free speech, I have heard that mods ban anyone that isn't right wing. The memes aren't top notch either, I don't know if the people on there are serious or not. At least on 4chan the memes are great and you can tell apart satire from seriousness, I have trouble doing that on Voat.
