Yes, even religion - and I am no big fan of it - has that benefit of curtailing thoughts and impulses as being "forbidden" or "evil". And indeed embracing those leads to insanity.

Religion is not insanity, but it keeps people to have a same idea that can survive. And this idea won't be the idea of Elliot Rodger.

There are these events without explanations but this is not one. He also states he was envious of couples and males that do have partners.
