I feel like fairly quickly we're going to see this evolve to requiring real identity for actual humans and ability to digitally sign content in ways bots can't replicate. That will then be the real problem outcome because the downstream effects of that will enable all kinds of censorship and control that we have thus far resisted / avoided on the internet.

This one really concerns me, especially for smaller, free speech communities like Saidit. You think the spam and disruption is bad now, get a couple of competent AI posters and you could completely derail a community.

An adversary would no longer have to pay for trolls and shills, just send in your AI army which never tires. It really seems like the next logical step in propaganda and silencing dissent, a la COINTELPRO and my frequently posted The Gentleperson's Guide To Forum Spies.

Frankly, I don't know how we combat this but any ideas are welcome.

The World Economic Forum wants to track every user on the internet. It will be proposed as a solution, but they will use many propaganda bots.

That's what the "block user" button is for: bots, trolls and shills.

Sure, but what about if you can't tell they're bots? An AI bot swarm might be more subtle, shifting the dialogue in the direction they want and drowning out controversial topics.

Yup this is definitely happening, and is only getting worse, and I have no idea how to address it either. It's already happening too, it's not just a future concern. It might very well ruin the internet and I hate the fact it's happening.

Yup this is definitely happening, and is only getting worse, and I have no idea how to address it either. It's already happening too, it's not just a future concern. It might very well ruin the internet and I hate the fact it's happening.

 

They are "flooding the internet (forums) with garbage" - but these can be easily spotted & shunned
 

What is more insidious: dissidents being unwittingly weaponized to flood each other with noise

The core problem: Good usurped
Well, to be exact: full spectrum usurpation - economic, political, inquiries, discourse, but most importantly our mind - through the Corporate, Hierarchical, Pyramidian 🔺 Paradigm -- it enables / undergirds the rest
 

The solution:

1) Let's all agree on our goal: usurper-free Dom - free & immunized from usurpation
 
2) We must first displace the Corporate, Hierarchical 🔺Paradigm from our collective mindset - because it is the root of our usurpation - everyone just needs to unshackle their own mind from it
 
3) Normalize accretive dialogue for building our usurper-free Dom
 
4) Make it our core value & duty to defend against usurpation
 

With the extent of (i.e. full spectrum) usurpation understood and the necessary mindset change rapidly, avalanched into place, everyone can assess for themselves, or do so by discussing with others, whether something posted online is conducive & accretive towards usurper-free Dom, or simply usurping noise (or garbage) and should thus be dismissed accordingly.
Those who engage in flooding others with noise will either be chided or simply shunned

It's not clear to me what you're getting at the way this is worded. If you could explain it more concisely, as if telling a child, I might have more feedback.

The proof of identity could be the mark of the beast that Jesus warned us about. People will agree to take the mark (which would identify them) in their right hand or forehead. People will be branded like cattle. No one will be able to do business in the world without the mark. I would not be surprised if soon, no one can use the internet without confirming they are human (proved with the mark) but the rich and powerful rulers of this world will probably continue to let AI use the internet anyway, or the AI will find a way in, like a virus.

I don't know how we combat this but any ideas are welcome.

I appreciate your posts and I like that you are trying to fight against propaganda. My idea: prayer. It's something few know how to do. There is one thing we men have that machines do not have: a spiritual connection to God. We also can do something that machines cannot do: love.

God = Spirit = Love = Truth.

How can prayer help? If you see something and you want to know if it is truth, ask God who knows all. He will protect the minds of all that want to know the truth. The people that fall for the propaganda do not really care, nor do they desire the truth, and many times they are selfish and so the love in their hearts has grown cold. They are easy for the adversary to deceive. But no AI can match the Almighty Lord God, who is our Creator.

Man: made in the image of God, by God. AI: made in the image of man, by man.
