The 'world's blackest paint' is licensed exclusively to the artist Anish Kapoor. In retaliation Stuart Semple was incensed when Kapoor bought the exclusive rights – so he made what he says is a blacker one available for everyone besides Kapoor.

Disturbing Art Made By Mentally Ill People. This video showcases and analyses works of art made by people suffering from severe mental illness. From schizophrenia to alzheimer's to PTSD, disorders of the mind can affect the way people make art. The line between genius and madness is a fine one.

Huge decline of working class people in the arts reflects fall in wider society. Study shows the proportion of musicians, writers and artists with working-class origins has shrunk by half since the 1970s. Elite contempt for the working class prevents them from entering the field.

It's a pattern that has repeated throughout history and around the world, one of naturalist art executed with great skill being deliberately replaced with highly abstract art not requiring as much skill.

All those reconstructions of “how classical art would have looked with the original paint” are probably inaccurate. There is no reason to think the Greeks and Romans used garish technicolor hues on their statues; they were good at shading, and the statues were probably colored very tastefully.
