Personally, I think most are references to people with knowledge, dress, health and wisdom beyond the comprehension of a hunter-gatherer... Atlanteans perhaps? (keeping in mind my definition of Atlantean is no more advanced than say, renaissance Portugal)

I’m starting to think the book of enoch was right and that the nephilum were hybrid beings that were wiped out long ago.
