I helped a little on this article and radically revised the list a few months ago:

Besides the primarily Eastern European early history of hyperboloid towers there's also a pre-WWII history of them on battleships. Many of these ships were attacked at Pearl Harbor. See the bottom of the list for images of those ships and links to their articles.
