But a White Confederate soldier would be a part of White history, not Black history. This seems to be more about erasing history, erasing the story and humanity of Confederate soldiers. True, American slavery was often cruel and brutal. A war was fought, and men on both sides lost their lives. That's what a war memorial is supposed to be about. Not giving a giant "thumbs up" to slavery, but remembering the dead, and remembering history.

It is important to remember history, so we do not have to repeat it. But sadly, people have forgotten what their ancestors went through.
