Twitter put an age-restricted lock on this same video, which could indicate censorship. There is no gore in the video, so why else would they want this video hidden?

I'm an outsider so I don't know anything about it. Therefore I probably don't have an opinion.

But if the dam has to be rebuilt, one bank makes money financing the reconstruction and some rich guy's construction company makes money as well.

Where does that money come from?

Multiple banks usually put up the capital to spread the risk but its a loan which has to be paid back by either the government or the project. If the dam is hydroelectric then they will get paid back from the profits of power production.

My sister used to organise these loans for a living. She had to estimate energy prices for decades to get a sign off.

Edit: just thinking that if this dam was destroyed without being paid off then the banks will have to take the hit on the remaining payments, they could try suing but it's probably not worth it. Likely it's mostly interest payments. My sister also had to predict the likelihood of war or political upheaval.

I think you identified 3 that pay for this:

  1. Government
  2. Electric company
  3. Bank

The government gets their money from the taxpayers, directly or indirectly. The electric company and bank will pass their costs on to their customers. And the military that used explosives to cause the destruction was also funded by the taxpayers, directly or indirectly.

So really, all of this is paid for by the little people. War is one of the ways that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

The thing you are missing is that a dam is an asset which the government and electricity companies will make money off of for many years after the loan has been paid off.

Then you have all the money going to local people building the thing and running it.

No gets given massive infrastructure schemes for free but they build them because of the long term benefits, which include them paying for themselves.
