Ah! But the sales pitch has always been, the "good war" therefore, most probably won't be aware. In reality was is about winning, and whatever needs to be done to win is undertaken. But that destroys the myth, them bad, us good.

    Afghanistan has countless yummy reserves of rare earth metals, a must have for modern electronics & weaponry & Lithium which is used in batteries, in electric vehicles, being just one example. According to a declassified defense department note, it is THE “the Saudi Arabia of lithium.”

    The other winner the arms merchants! Post 2008 those shares are offering yields which very few of the other stocks can compete with. Hence the mergers, acquisitions, to justify increasing board, executive pay.

    We haven't actually been involved in a legal declared war since then either.

    We also haven't won any. Maybe this war thing just ain't our bag.
