EU doesn't really count because they depend on NATO. Because of NATOs relationship with the EU, the American army basically is the EU army in practice.

Many other countries have formed similar agreements with the US. The US provides a military for defense, and in response they offer favorable trade deals or other things beneficial for the US. This is how the US has a military base in 184 countries.

China and Russia are some of the few not using this deal, and instead running their own military.

But even with all that considered, US military spending is absolutely out of control.

The majority US economy is linked with the Pentagon and the Agencies.
Google=NSA, Facebook=CIA, Amazon = Blackwater, etc.
I guess, this may increase the number to 50% of the GDP.
In other countries this is usually very different, which is why they have healthcare and trains.

Yeah IN-Q-TEL is the CIA's venture capital fund via which they pay for all this. Also in addition to their usual federal budget of something like $30 billion per year, they also get something like $80 billion in "black budgets" that is disallowed from being tracked or disclosed.

It's with this money they "choose the winners" in the marketplace, and also with this money they prop up dictatorships that serve their geopolitical goals, and overthrow ones that don't.

This should be common knowledge, as it seems awfully important, but it isn't talked about very much in the media. Oh right because the 5 companies that own 95% of the media are also in their pockets from that same pile of money, and also through influence like Epstein and Maxwell.

Realistically though no one is reporting the real amount they spend on the military. Especially not China. And with huge disparities in soldier pay, accommodations, and other non equipment costs it's not realistic to compare costs between voluntary millitaries and conscript militaries.
