State of the Website - AntiExtremes.com updates 11/19/2017

Today we're proud to announce that we have our own dedicated IRC server set up. We were piggy-backing on another server and we were hitting connection limits, so we started our own, mostly thanks to the work of /u/d3rr.

So now the IRC chat uses our own server, and you can even connect to it with an external IRC application at irc.antiextremes.com

Next, we've finally made the site our own, and there's no mention of "subreddits" or "reddit" anymore anywhere on the site, save for the mention of it in the URL www.antiextremes.com/subreddits. That's a final touch I've been working on, but haven't nailed down yet. If you see any mentions of "reddit" around on the site other than this last one, please let me know.

Next up, we have some backend changes over the next few weeks, and then we will be inviting many more users to the site. I have only invited about 1/10th of the total audience I can reach, and have been waiting to invite more people until we get these backend issues ironed out. Also soon our RESAE chrome extension will be put in the Chrome store so it becomes officially supported by the browser.

Is there a way to view all of the subs here? (I mean like to see a list of all of them?)

Yes, https://antiextremes.com/subreddits shows all of them in order of number of subscribers. Changing that URL is one of the last things left to change to remove all mentions of reddit.

We're going to call them subXes instead of subreddits, and they're going to be at /x/whatever instead of /r/whatever. The correct URL for listing all the subXes out already works at https://antiextremes.com/subxes

Thanks for the kind words. Been slacking, entire family and even my 2 dogs have been sick or wounded, except me. Everyone's better or mending, hope to contribute what I can more frequently. Thanks to all behind the scenes.

Hey d3rr, I seem to be unable to log in to the lounge, is it working for you?

edit: It seems to work with my other accounts. Does the "reset password" button work yet in preferences? I'm not trying it until you tell me it's okay

Yep, still working for me.

reset password won't work unless you also change the username. alternatively it is safe to delete all chat accounts, they will seamlessly be recreated. that's rm -f ~/.lounge/users/*

Yes, very mellow, and more centrist and considering of both sides, and trying to see beyond the political theater to see the deeper workings of our governmental systems that actually impact the quality of our lives in a real way. Try /r/politics and /r/worldnews

I have a pedogate subreddit set to private for now, and I've noticed that everytime I sign in 6-8 readers are always on the sub waiting. Not sure who they are but I noticed it and found it odd.
