we are 12,800 years into the roughly 12,000 year long catastrophe cycle

Are you talking about the magnetic pole shift? Those actually occur on a scale of about 42,000 years or so. Pole shifts are dangerous because they result in the temporary shut down of the Earths magnetic field. As a result, the ozone layer is quickly stripped away, and ultraviolet light is able to inundate the Earths surface. This is harmful to life, which can cause die offs. However, the Earths magnetic field soon regenerates, and so to does the ozone layer.

Magnetic pole shifts are only a temporary crisis', and it isn't really accurate to call them an extinction level event.

No. Magnetic pole shifts are likely 6,000-year events, but this 12,000 year cycle is much more important. Go check out the youtube channel I linked above. Ben Davidson uses a truly multidisciplinary approach to unravelling these mysteries. He's done a fantastic job so far. And please keep your mind open because he does go counter to some specialist conclusions. However, his doing so is amply justified out of the evidence from a whole slew of different fields of study.

About the magnetic pole reversals: they are much more dramatic than you think because the magnetic field is what protects the Earth against cosmic rays. Without a geomagnetic field, even for just a few days, life dies as sure as if it were in the Van Allen belt around the Earth.

Moreover, the Earth's relatively thin outer crust is MAGNETICALLY locked onto the mantle. What happens when you have a spinning spheroid with an outer layer that is mobile, but there is an excess of mass at the poles? That's right, the outer layer rotates 90 degrees so that the massive ice caps end up at the equator. Huge flood. Every 6,000 years, because the magnetic field flips every 6,000 years.

I know it sounds like science fiction. I didn't believe it either for a long time. But Davidson's work is nothing short of breathtaking. I can't find a hole in his take on these phenomena. Even the theorized wave of micronovae are being recorded as the galactic dust sheet advances.

What do you base that on?

Honestly, this sounds like it might be new age quackery. Flat earth style stuff. Give me a condensed version so I can decide whether or not its worth my time.

About the magnetic pole reversals: they are much more dramatic than you think because the magnetic field is what protects the Earth against cosmic rays.

Cosmic rays are of much less concern than solar radiation from the Sun. Remember, the Sun emits radiation on ALL wavelengths: Gamma, x-ray, ultraviolet, visible light, infra red, microwave, radio, etc. With regards to inundation of the Earths surface, the Sun emits orders magnitude more energy than cosmic rays do.

Without a geomagnetic field, even for just a few days, life dies as sure as if it were in the Van Allen belt around the Earth.

Again, there are die offs associated with magnetic pole reversals, but they are nothing like what you argue. They cannot be compared even with the smaller mass extinctions of history. Its much more akin to an elevated mortality of all complex life forms, mainly due to unhealthy absorption of ultraviolet light (which the ozone layer ordinarily blocks).

Moreover, the Earth's relatively thin outer crust is MAGNETICALLY locked onto the mantle.

Do you have a source for that?

That's right, the outer layer rotates 90 degrees so that the massive ice caps end up at the equator. Huge flood. Every 6,000 years, because the magnetic field flips every 6,000 years.

I don't think so. First because the timescale of magnetic pole shifts are more like 42,000 years. Second because there is no evidence of regular cyclic flooding in the Earths geography.

There is no MORE condensed version. It's a very complex topic that encompasses many fields of scientific study. Ben Davidson does an awesome job of putting it all together. What little I know, I have mostly learned from him. Since you already have ideas about these topics, it is safe to assume you already have interest in them. Increase your education by listening and reading him pulling apart studies from multiple fields, and then reassembling the knowledge into a coherent whole.

And it really has nothing to do with anything new-agey or moronic crap like flat Earthism.

You can thank me later.

I've seen a few articles recently on new findings that they're saying show 'great extinctions' during past pole flips.
