This year, sales are down 13%, of which, 11% is less foreign exports of beef. This is due to the supply loss from extra sales the year or two before. The USDA projects a massive increase next year in beef supply.

Most farmers, even cattle farmers, work based on loans. You get a loan for the seeds and gas to farm, they hay and feed to raise cattle, then hope you make enough to pay back your loans and have a profit. The large increase over last month’s forecast is largely based on an increase in projected fed cattle marketings, for which there is a twofold explanation. First, a higher-than- expected calf crop estimate raised anticipated placements in late 2023 and early 2024. Second, a slower anticipated pace of marketings in second-half 2023 shifted more marketings into 2024. There was also a slight upward adjustment to cow slaughter in the first half of 2024.

I remember a few years ago a bunch of people I knew from college, the slacktivist types anyway. Were all going around on Facebook complaining about how "cancel culture isn't real" or some shit and it was quite funny when they ended up on the wrong side of it and were all like "throwing out blatant accusations of groomers is wrong" or some shit.

I mean really a lot of people don't understand that the witch hunt is a very old concept that has existed long before the witch hunts for which the concept is named. Mob justice really. "Cancel culture" is simply the latest term to come out describing it.

And I think it's entirely rooted in the us vs them narrative that most people tend to fall back onto. I've found it difficult to discuss truly offensive topics with most people because they just shy away from the discussion but it makes it impossible to really get a good understanding of the idea if you do that.

I call it the tree of knowledge paradox. Eat the fruit and gain the knowledge of good and evil and become like God, but of course, knowing evil also means you are evil.

Was that way with the trans issues and gay issues growing up, what do we know about these? Well we don't talk about them in public or in private and if you dare to look into it or start exploring the ideas, the normal people will shun you, rightly to some degree I think as it does serve as a kind of social immune response to viral ideas. But I think the internet has changed that dynamic entirely as ideas no longer require people to be in direct contact with each other to spread ideas. And can allow even the most fringe ideas to find others to build off of for better and for worse.

It's always seemed ironic to me that Apple chose the apple with a bite taken out of it as their logo. Seems apt to the current situation I think. The iphone especially at the boom of the smartphone, essentially put the whole of human knowledge, both good and evil, into the palms of the innocent. And while I don't agree with the people who believe that knowledge itself is a sin, you can't truly understand evil without making it a part of you.

Not necessarily. It depends. Threatening to committ suicide for attention absolutely is a narcissistic act I have little simpathy for. But other times it can be simply an act of total desperation due to extreme circumstances or ongoing depression and isn't something the person is doing due to narcissistic impulses or a cry for attention. It still absolutely harms those who remain but it's a pretty thorny problem.

If you've never been in that kind of situation where you are under such incredible stress and you don't see an escape from it besides death it can be hard to understand that mindset. But I think it's a lot like if you are say, in a tall burning building and you have the choice of either staying and being burned alive, or jumping out and taking your chances with gravity. Either way it's a near certain death. People who are suicidal often view things in that manner, death is a solution to a problem they see no other escapes from. Though as with many of these things the person under extreme stress may be imagining the fire so to speak.

That said pray you never have to experience that kind of hopeless desperation that would make you even consider it, it changes you even if you do ultimately choose life and make it out the other side.

Dr Kadlec, who worked for presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump and lead American efforts to develop a Covid-19 vaccine, said his intention in initially downplaying a lab leak was to encourage co-operation from China in the early days of the outbreak.

But the public denial of the lab leak theory spiralled and the proposition Covid may have leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology turned into a conspiracy.

“I wake up at usually about 2 or 3am and think about it honestly, because it’s something that we all played a role in,” Dr Kadlec says.

I was able to find loads about it at the beginning, same as (to my own surprise) I found plenty of studies showing masks don't work - at all, for anything - and then saw those same studies vanishing off the net.

I was looking at the mask studies as I presumed they must do something and was trying to build a case for them, but found the total opposite. Every study done found they were pretty useless, even at what they were intended for, which is to stop staff accidentally spitting into open wounds during surgery. When actually studied, infection rates were identical with or without the masks. Many of the studies were done with dentists, who also found they make zero difference.

Studies looking at other uses, such as stopping or reducing flu infections found them also totally fucking useless.

Now it's surprisingly hard to find those studies, as they've been systematically removed. I saved a number of links and they soon turned to 404s, with my favorite being a page saying 'If you are looking for the study showing masks are ineffective against influenza infection, it has been removed due to the ongoing pandemic."

They literally censored real-world data because it went against the narrative.

So should I bother trying to find the studies proving previous coronavirus attempts create ADE? Nah.

Look for yourself, and be sure to use Google, so you can waste your time instead of mine.
