This is after the fucking president of Brazil spoke out openly and publicly to condemn the political (and outrageous) persecution of Assange by the U.S. and British governments.

(The one exception to 'pathetic' here being Andrew Wilkie, who is an independent MP who has been speaking up for Assange from the beginning and also spoke out against Australia joining in the invasion of Iraq, as a whistleblower from inside Australian military intelligence. I'm not an expert on this, but I do use the saidit app, and that works fine, and on desktop the only time I've been required to solve a captcha is when signing in. So I don't know the details, but I would imagine this is a similar situation. You probably only need to do the captcha when you're initially setting it up.

My take is that the general public got tired of the movement; privileged communists LARPing on the streets always gets tiresome, just as it did with CHAZ and BLM. The people actually suffering - middle & lower class in the south - suffered silently and fell into drug addiction. But ultimately I assume it was Obama. Who were the activists going to criticize? The young, charismatic, progressive black president? The big corporations dressed themselves up in pride flags and DEI and used them as a shield.

It's quite possible of course that India is responsible. But this kind of thing is normal. What's abnormal is making a big deal out of it, and I'm sure the economics of the Russia situation that you pointed out played in a role in that decision.
