This would result, Biden-administration officials hoped, in a nuanced system in which, at the lower rungs of school sports, where participation rather than competition was the focus, transgender student athletes would be able to play on teams that align with their gender identities. But at the upper echelons where scholarships and championships were at stake — as in Division I volleyball — transgender athletes might not be able to play if schools determined that their participation would risk unfair competition or injury.

Iow, the males can play as females until they win a full ride D1 scholarship then?

"As you fall toward the black hole, you notice some things which strike you as highly unusual, but because you know your general relativity they do not shock or frighten you. First, the stars behind you — that is, in the direction that points away from the black hole — grow much brighter. The light from those stars, falling in toward the black hole, is being blue-shifted by the gravitation; light that was formerly too dim to see, in the deep infrared, is boosted to the point of visibility."

"Simultaneously, the black patch of sky that is the event horizon seems to grow strangely. You know from basic geometry that, at this distance, the black hole should subtend about a half a degree of your view — it should, in other words, be about the same size as the full moon as seen from the surface of the Earth. Except it isn't. In fact, it fills half your view. Half of the sky, from notional horizon to notional horizon, is pure, empty blackness. And all the other stars, nearly the whole sky full of stars, are crowded into the hemisphere that lies behind you.

As you continue to fall, the event horizon opens up beneath you, so you feel as if you're descending into a featureless black bowl. Meanwhile, the stars become more and more crowded into a circular region of sky centered on the point immediately aft. The event horizon does not obscure the stars; you can watch a star just at the edge of the event horizon for as long as you like and you'll never see it slip behind the black hole. Rather, the field of view through which you see the rest of the universe gets smaller and smaller, as if you're experiencing tunnel-vision.

Finally, just before you're about to cross the event horizon, you see the entire rest of the observable universe contract to a single, brilliant point immediately behind you. If you train your telescope on that point, you'll see not only the light from all the stars and galaxies, but also a curious dim red glow. This is the cosmic microwave background, boosted to visibility by the intense gravitation of the black hole.

And then the point goes out. All at once, as if God turned off the switch. You have crossed the event horizon of the black hole.

It's worth to note that this story is fictious as well as no such an observer can actually exist: the tidal forces, spaghettization and Hawking radiation would scatter every observer into a radiation once he would attempt for it. So that interior and exterior of black holes actually form two nearly separated universes of sort. Only extremely lightweight particles could possibly survive such a route.

Should we accept that the quantum mechanics has made the universe unknowable? And if so, how should we proceed if the way the world is depends on our observations? Is science at play in a world of competing models none of which can ultimately describe the universe, or is Einstein's hunch right and can we uncover a theory that eliminates uncertainty and enables the correct description of the universe independent of any observer?

Einstein predicted for example Einstein's cross effect, during which we can observe multiple images of distant galaxies through gravitational lens at the same moment. I can guess this is macroscopic version (holographically dual actually) of many words interpretation of quantum mechanics, according to which we are observing microscopic images of small objects through myriads of tiny gravitational lenses forming vacuum fluctuations. So that quantum mechanics with its placing bounds on observability of reality also made Universe more understandable in this regard: we are residing in the middle of its distance/energy density scales and we are observing them both from inside out, both from outside in. See also:

Parallel Worlds Probably Exist. Here’s Why IMO they're merely observable rather than exist. The Einstein's cross observation also depends on location of observer: this effect is definitely real and reproducible - but it disappears once me move just a bit, which indicates it's sorta optical illusion. The concept of parallel universe may behave similarly: the reality which appears alternative from distance may become just an extension of our reality once we approach closer to it. It was general relativity again which provided such a clue: the observer falling into a black hole would start to see his location as a center of new Universe at some point, whereas its event horizon and former Universe would shrink itself into many event horizons, i.e. black holes which we can observe around us by now.

Pulsed Abnormal Glow Discharge - paper by Paolo and Alexandra Correa.

Anomalous cathode reaction forces varying in proportion to the square of the input current were first identified separately by Tanberg and Kobel, in 1930, during studies of cathode vaporization in "vacuum"-arc discharges (VADs) and stationary cathode spots (1,2). In his original paper, Tanberg made a case for the presence of longitudinal forces on electrodynamic interactions, which he attributed to the counterflow of vaporized cathode particles (1), but K. Compton demonstrated that the vapor jet only accounted for <2% of the reaction force's magnitude (3). He suggested a different interpretation of the the electrodynamic anomaly, arguing for a mechanical rebound, at the cathode, of charge-neutralized gas ions that hit the cathode in the course of the discharge (bombardment rebound) (3).

In the 1940's, little work was done on the North-American continent on the presence of longitudinal forces in plasma discharges. The notable exceptions may have been the self-funded research of W. Reich and of T.H. Moray. Reich claimed to have discovered a spontaneous pulsatory activity of the space medium in cold cathode diodes sealed at high vacuum, and to have achieved oscillatory frequencies that reached 30 Kc (4). He equally claimed to have designed a motor circuit driven by the cyclic discharge in question, but all the details of the circuits were kept secret by Reich, and have remained so since the burning and banning of his publications by the FDA in 1956. His suspicious death in prison followed shortly thereafter in 1957. M.B. King (5) has suggested that anomalous lightning balls were produced in corona discharge tubes designed by T.H.Moray (6), possibly by tuning the plasma diode to resonate with heavy ion acoustic oscillations (7), but again the details are scanty. To our knowledge, no one has reproduced the vacuum experiments of Reich or Moray.

German electromagnetic cannons were retrieved by the Combined Intelligence Objectives Sub-committee in 1945, which reportedly were capable of firing lightning balls into the atmosphere (8), and Dr. H. Aspden has drawn our attention to the efforts of Kapitza, in Russia, to drive the formation of plasma balls in vacuum tubes with an RF source (9). Kapitza apparently realized that the energy densities of lightning balls were of the magnitude required to initiate nuclear fusion. During the fifties, the US fusion program also investigated the suitability of utilizing anomalous reaction forces in exploding wires subject to high current surges and in 'axial pinch' voltage reactors, to create alternative neutron sources (10).

Admission of longitudinal interactions has always been problematic for the relativistic law of Lorentz (11), as well as for the Bio-Savart treatments of Ampere's Law (12). Quantum treatments of (high) field-emission, such as the Fowler-Nordheim law (strong fields pull out electrons with low energies, ie Fermi electrons) (13), also did not take these interactions into account.

Subsequent research in the 1950's concentrated mainly on the study of cathode and anode spots, as well as on cathode erosion by crater formation (14-15). Confirmation of Tanberg's longitudinal flow hypothesis would have to wait until the 1960's, but mass spectrometric studies carried out by several groups (16-19) indicated that the atomic particles involved were not neutral atoms, but mostly singly and multiply charged ions with energies exceeding the total VAD voltage. Measurements performed by Kimblin (20-22) of the fractional ion current supplied to the VAD, suggested a nearly invariant contribution in the order of 6 to 10% of the total VAD current. Combined with the detection of some neutral atom contributions to this anomalous reaction flow, these findings caused much initial resistance among arc physicists.

By the 1960's, it had become apparent that the presence of tremendous electrodynamic forces acting longitudinally in the direction of the discharge could not be accounted for by the Lorentz/Bio-Savart Law. Moreover, as Plyutto et al remarked, the Tanberg vaporization hypothesis also could not explain the observed dependence of cathode reaction forces on gas pressure, nor the high velocity plasma streams emerging from the cathode (18). Plyutto's model of an ambipolar mechanism, where the electrons sweep the ions forward as a function of the anomalous rise of potential in front of the cathode spot, while the spot moves backwards, may well explain the dynamic relation of these forces, but not their initiation mechanism.

Why the “Wave” in Quantum Physics Isn’t Real - maybe the wave function doesn't exactly look like as simple as Schrodinger derived (after all, de Broglie himself coined "double quantization" model for his pilot wave concept), maybe it's heavily scattered with quantum fluctuations itself - but IMO pilot wave is definitely physically real and we can draw multiple physically testable conclusions from it. Also, it has multiple hydrodynamic analogs which you can watch on YouTube too.

He’s worked with the Ovarit developers in the past. I think any user can create their own sub over there so I doubt there’s much vetting involved on his part. I think the main drawback with the cekni subs being private is that new people can’t go there to lurk and learn. I don’t think it will struggle with activity, at least not in the beginning. But Ovarit had over 170 000 unique visitors each month.. losing Ovarit is a bit like losing our voice. I hope that our community here will be active enough to draw interest.

That said, I don’t think public cekni subs is an option. It looks like the most populated subs over there have around 850 subscribers, a handful of active ovaretts would drown out the rest of his site immediately. Cekni is a good alternative to discord though and it was really nice of him to offer.

So some guy whose site admin job is overseeing a Slovak language site focused on film and the arts came into ovarit and signed up users to create exclusively private English language subs? What was the vetting in terms of those selected to create them? What if any is the process should a user want to create their own sub? Where are the instructions?

In the beginning, r/gender_critical came first followed by the r/gendercritical most remember due to philosophical differences. What is the mechanism to do that there?

What do you think of this truth I just showed you Canbot? The crimes committed during the Protestant Wars and the Communist regimes are the most relevant conflicts in the last 500 years, but it turns out you can't blame the Jews for either of the two, there was an intentional effort to exaggerate the Jewish influence with malice even.

So if we can't blame the Jews for these events, exactly what are the people of the alt-right and the other white supremacists online even accusing the Jews out of? This is Post-Modernism at its finest and the catastrophic consequence of giving common people access to infinite information.

The TIMs almost all openly say that they don’t experience gender dysphoria, just “gender euphoria” usually.

If accurate statistics were allowed to be collected and if proper scientific studies were done, more of the public would be able to see the obvious difference between TIMs and TIFs through the numbers. But I think unfortunately that at this point, most accurate studies would end up still being dismissed by TRAs. Many are too brainwashed at this point that even actual statistics and research study results won’t change their minds. They’ll only claim the study is biased, despite the own studies they cite from having even more heavy bias.

It’s really messed up. :(

This is what I have been anxious about. They’ve already been screenshotting saidit onto that sub. And they already find ways to twist reasonable statements on Ovarit into something different to support false claims. So I personally want to make sure anything I say on saidit ends up sounding a bit more… idk, civil or non-hateful, at least, towards TIPs. Maybe a bit of compassion towards the TIFs when it’s deserved, but still to basically have us sound like the sensible normal ones to the liberal TRAs when they come across saidit out of curiosity, so that some might end up siding with us after reading our perspectives

An update on that user’s circles btw: they have decided to mostly pause them all for now, as it would split too much activity from the two existing private circles, and also because they would prefer to follow other suggestions of growing/recruiting to existing more public spaces like saidit and clovenhooves.

This might sound petty of me, but I was wanting to downvote the posts I saw on s/all that had racist slurs lol. 😅 So that was why I was asking tbh.

To be fair, while I don’t know much about the cekni admin, it wasn’t really him that was recruiting Ovarit members there. I think he only mentioned once or twice on Ovarit his offer to key Ovarit members make private circles. And so some members ran with the idea and started recruiting.

Plus, honestly though? If I was a site admin, I personally would be recruiting randos if they seemed like randos with good opinions. 😅 Many Ovarit members have good, sensible, gender-critical feminist opinions lol. That’s so rare these days.

Users can vote either or both for “insightful” or “fun” as seen in those icons. I’ve used insightful most often but if a post is funny as well, I’ll select both.

As we have opted out of default subs, we are not usually getting users from there. And as /u/soundsituation said, opting into s/all means that you can’t ban particular opinions for that reason itself, so for feminist subs I would recommend opting out.

I think it was just him being kind to offer because perhaps he felt bad for some of us. It’s not as if it’s ideal for him to have English-speakers taking over his site, which is why he hesitated at the idea of Ovarit members making public feminist subs there. (Plus he had to upgrade his server recently, all because he had so much more traffic on his site lately than expected! I think due to so many feminists and TRAs/TIPs all scrambling there.)

But I think declining was a good idea actually! I think the more of us that are brave enough to share our opinions publicly, the better. It’s what is needed for other feminists to become braver. Otherwise, if the other feminists don’t see our opinions online anywhere and if they don’t think any gender critical feminists are left, they will think they’re alone, or stay silent, or might become conservatives in order to have a space to speak!

i have a random question about the saidit format btw! I’m confused by one part of the site’s upvote/downvote system. Is there no downvotes on here, unlike Reddit? I’ve been curious since where I’d normally expect the downvote, it shows that laughing face, and I wasn’t sure if it meant the same thing as a downvote!

Also, I took a look at the front page of saidit and am a bit uncomfortable by the number of n-words and other racial slurs I saw on the front page! Do you advise for any feminist creating a new sub here to opt her sub out of appearing on the front/all page? Is s/GenderCritical opted into appearing on all?

Assessment of ovarit alternatives by WrongToy in GenderCritical

[–]ginger 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thank you; that makes sense! So… just to clarify the rule on not being able to disallow specific words… if I wanted to ban all racist, misogynistic, ableist, & homophobic slurs and insults towards other people, as part of the sub’s rules… that wouldn’t be allowed though? Like if I told members, “you can’t use the n-word (racist slur), or the r-word (ableist slur), etc,” my sub can’t appear on all?

I don’t necessarily mind not having my subs show in s/all tbh if that means I can censor hate speech or random people being aggressive to each other tbh! Not just want to double check since it’ll be helpful for me to keep in mind how the rules here work! I don’t care if TIMs or TIFs or TRAs or males or libfems or anyone else wants to participate and chat in my subs if it’s in good faith and if they’re polite when expressing any opinion or when disagreeing with others. But if they’re picking fights and wasting other members’ times, then I would want the ability to ban if they really seem like trolls!
