To be honest, I don't really like discord because it feels kind of chaotic. I'm also very hesitant about voice verification and I don't really want to do that. Right now I'm thinking about whether I'm going to stay on discord or not. I strongly prefer forums like saidit.

I have a question! Can anyone on saidit make new subs on here about any topic? I’m wondering why more of us don’t just take advantage of the fact that saiddit doesn’t censor others, by creating our own public subs here on the general topics that we want to talk about, whether it’s gaming, fandom, feminism, documenting male violence, and let it be open to anyone to chat in like how r/GenderCritical on reddit used to be? And the mods of each new sub can always ban who they want, just like how any banned member can always make any new circles they want?

We could just take advantage of the fact that saidit has a smaller userbase than reddit by creating multiple parts of this site to be female-modded and female-friendly and public so that new people can continually join in. I don’t like the idea of closing off the Ovarit community to private spaces like discord or private subs on other sites all that much, now that I think of it, because it creates a false impression for members that any online site is 100% secure and free of TRAs and TIPs which makes them at risk for sharing too much personal information, and meanwhile this creates an added appeal for those bad actors wanting to infiltrate and screenshot posts and comments from private spaces. That risk is less likely when most of the chatting is done in public subs on saiddit for various topics!

You should see if you search yourself a button at the top to edit default subs so as you only see the ones you want. As we are not a default sub, we get little interaction from them anyway.

I agree with this. The downside of limiting users is is that you limit new ideas. The upside is that you keep out bad agents, but that in itself can be a problem, especially if your goal is to promote women’s liberation. As difficult as it is, it’s best to stay on top of your opponents methods. Also an open forum provides space for lurkers who want to get the other side of the story without signing up to be a member of a gated community. I think this particular forum will be where I end up spending most of my time.
