Yes, we are in the late stage of an ice age, but this is isolated at the poles, it isn't global and hasn't been global for about 12,000 years. Humans, and life in general, can and has survived in warmer climates. It is more likely that humans would survive a few degrees increase in the next few hundred years than a full global ice age which would decimate the entire infrastructure, food production and habitation. It's ridiculous of the climate emergency folk to think we can control the global climate to avoid such extremes either way 🤷 it will go one way or another and people will probably die, nothing we can do to change it.

My favorite live music is silent movie accompaniment. I once saw D.W. Griffith's 1916 masterpiece Intolerance with a full orchestra. Really fantastic, with the music changing as the film jumped between eras. The Babylonian scenes often used Saint-Saëns' Samson and Delilah. The "modern" American scenes had an excellent solo pianist playing early 20th century music.

The music is critical for enjoying a silent movie. Even though the visuals are the same, the choice of music makes a huge difference in the overall experience.

I recently heard a really good live performance of Stravinsky's Petrushka in a small hall. Petrushka is normally a ballet, but in this case it was just a medium-size orchestra. This was great, since you didn't have dancers distracting you from the music, which often has conversations between a few instruments, with the conversations constantly moving about the orchestra. You can't hear this without being there live, and the hall and orchestra have to be the right size.
