After Bernie, twice, I'm convinced it's not.

If RFK finally wakes the fuck up, runs outside of the duopoly and starts really running against the duopoly and moving the mainstream discussion that way, good, go for it. But that's really the most I'm hoping for, and based on his willingness to bend the knee to Israel, I'm not even holding that much hope for him anyway. Same with West and his insistence on treating the blue team as better than the red team.

The only point that this election can possibly serve is if at least one media-covered candidate runs as an unabashedly anti-duopoly candidate. A candidate who tells people, without ambiguity, that the duopoly is not their only choice. That they do have choices, but they have to seize them, and in order to do that, they have to stop looking at CNN/Fox forecasts of some upcoming election and instead look at their neighbor, and help there.

What's needed isn't a third-party candidate who's going to win in 2024. What's needed is a third-party candidate who's willing to go against the duopoly, without making any distinction between red or blue, and push the conversation towards mutual aid, civil actions, doing town halls and getting people from completely different neighborhood but with similar issues to talk about their problems and discover that they actually all share the same issues, coming from the same place.

That's the rumor I've heard, too. Most of us regard the Libertarian Party as a sort of laissez-faire, economically right-leaning party, and for decades it has been. Kennedy will certainly run from the left, but I don't imagine that will be terribly contentious in a party that no one would characterize as doctrinaire.

I'm still not convinced that our way out of this mire is via electoral politics, and Bernie Sanders is the very last instance of my hitching a wagon to any candidate in hopes of a savior.
