Both: How do you feel about Title IX being changed to protect gender identity instead of biological sex? by worried19 in GCdebatesQT

I think those terms proliferate the idea that sex is mutable. I think this is a harmful idea for both sides. For instance, if someone is considering medical transition they shouldn't be under the impression that the changes they undergo will be tantamount to a change in sex, otherwise they're bound to be disappointed with the results, to some degree at least.

QT: If all these "third genders" around the world, throughout history, in all these different cultures are transgender, then where are all the gay people? by SnowAssMan in GCdebatesQT

[–]SnowAssMan[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Absolutely! I believe that they are straight, despite technically being in a same-sex relationship. Even eye-tracking studies seem to confirm that Samoan men open to dating fa'afafine are not even bisexual (just not as "straight" as men unwilling to, apparently).

I recently saw an old British documentary about lesbians (uploaded by BabyRadFemTV) & according to it, 'lesbian' used to be defined as the type of woman who would dress & act like a man & pursue romantic relationships with women. The women they had relationships with were not regarded as lesbians at that time.

I feel like this old view is more accurate than the modern one. Nowadays, we have to all accept that the partner of a lesbian is always another lesbian (or bisexual) & that a heterosexual women can never love another woman. This is why political lesbianism has got such a bad wrap nowadays & seemingly every modern radfem rejects it as being homophobic (even though Sheila Jeffreys is a political lesbian in a very successful long term relationship). Then they wonder why every straight woman identifies as bi – it's bc they can't just be straight anymore if they are open to relationships with women. The modern political lesbian has to identify as febfem in order to avoid the wrath of lesbians & their allies.

Then again, I've heard people say that you can identify as bi even if you're not 50/50 bi – whatever the f*ck that means. I mean, if you're gay but like "5% straight", or whatever, wouldn't you still think of yourself gay? Don't know why a straight person who is "5% gay" is automatically bi. I think if a label were absolutely necessary then "heteroflexible"? But maybe it becomes less about semantics & more about preference as far as these labels are concerned.

No. I mean as in finding, beating and killing gay people twice as young as them. It's a deep part of their culture. Just because we dont like transexuals doesnt mean we forgot about these people. For such a small group of people, gay males make the top of the list when it comes to hate crimes. "red necks" aren't all about trucks and beer. They have an ideology even if theyre too stupid to articulate it.

c)there will be no consequences to live with realizing how stupid believing in a nonsense book might bring. im very happy!

d)im glad something works for you. there are fully functioning scientologists, mormons, muslims, tony robbins people, and all followers of a dumb thing. i dont hate any of you, i just shake my head at how you cant figure out something so blatantly retarded. if it works for you-GREAT. but you people frequently fuck it up for the rest of us. thats the problem.

It could be, I remember she said her parents gave birth to a boy so he can have a son, there's a noticeable age difference between both her and her brother. I would have begun suspecting a bit more that she might be trying to get her dad's assets (as a joke), but she started claiming a few years after she said that in a post. I'm not surprised if what really happened that aside from shitty parents, she has felt oppressed in her suburb (although very unlikely, she lives in an area where our ethnicity is more concentrated and they're in a higher income bracket), she feels the unfair treatment from one of the important figures who she has no choice but to accept in her life (children, do not have the autonomy to remove people from their lives), because said figure wants a son, she goes to Tumblr and see all of these other injustices (or has noticed already and thought to go to Tumblr because art and social justice is her passion) which furthers her development and passion in fighting oerceieved social justices and with the whole academic achievements, some level of elitist attitudes (if the social justice thing hasn't given her a sense if superiority yet). I really don't know anything about her, I'm just basing off human psychology and looking at her life and coming up with a theory of what may have happened. Also she probably had no one important enough to discuss these thoughts with, which led to unhampered beliefs developing into beliefs which less based off logic and more based off emotion. Compare to me, I wanted to go vegetarian, and I expressed that, but I was drawn back by my older brother (he's a narcissistic, selfish asshole, but I'm not going to lie, he had some beneficial impact), by telling me how homo sapiens evolved and teased me a little with the taste of meat, is hard to resist rustic chinese cooking.

Do you deny that the other half have bodies that are built to be capable of impregnating the other half? What are those bodies exactly if not male? Extremely rare exceptions to the rule do not a spectrum make.

If there are no female bodies how do you explain how we figured out with astonishing accuracy which half of the human population to deny basic human rights for 1,000s of years up to the present day? The baby girls being buried alive in misogynist countries didn't get to identify out of being female. The girls dying in menstruation huts sure as hell didn't to get to identify their way out of their demise. The little girls married off and raped by old men dying from being impregnated at a far too young age didn't get to identify out of it either. Female bodied people have bigger problems than whether or not someone recognizes their "identity" or uses the correct "pronouns". Why should trans activists be allowed to trample over the very real, very urgent needs of female bodied people? Why should sex denialists have any influence on the law? We may as well let flat earthers run the coop while we're at it.

Not being allowed to trample over women's consent, bodily autonomy and basic liberties is not oppression. Trans activists who are hellbent on destroying women's rights are the oppressors, not the oppressed. The cornerstone for women's liberty is being able to say no to men, no matter how they personally identify. If we cannot say no to men in single sex spaces, if we cannot reserve spaces for women to save them from male violence, child marriage and all of the other horrors that are inflicted by men on women throughout the world, how else exactly are we supposed to protect ourselves? Do you have an alternative better solution to protect women from male predation once all of women's single sex spaces are gone? Do you have a better way for women to advocate for their liberation when women are no longer allowed to meet together to advocate for their interests and rights free from male influence?

Primitivism, population decline or minimalism is suicidal and is wholly impractical by casparvoneverec in debatealtright

[–]SecureTheInevitable [score hidden]  (0 children)

I disagree that the only pathway is A or B. We can minimize resource depletion by building better infrastructure, consumer products and change the culture around consumption. People would be happier, healthier and might have to give up some comforts for more fulfilling lives. This might introduce some inefficiency in the economy but our current countries are already terribly inefficient from diversity, giant bureaucracies and predatory capitalism.

It is a false dilemma that we must allow every technological advancement to exist unrestricted. We can allow technology to advance unimpeded if it is in the national interest like AI and weapons technology while restricting or outright banning technology that harms the people. Banning high fructose corn syrup and multinational social media platforms can be done without banning the use of industrialized farming and fiber optic internet. In a ideal nationalist state, the leaders would manage the complexity of the state and control the adoption of new technology and restrict technology that is harming the people in the present or will in the future. They are still competitive in trade but there are strong families, vibrant culture, etc. The liberal fait accompli mentality needs to end, you can always steer the ship in any direction if people are determined and persevere.

"Retarded" is a word, nothing more. It has no more or no less meaning than what you give to it. Sadly, practically the entire English language has been weaponized, radicalized and politicized to the point where we can barely say anything, anymore, without offending some snowflake leftist moron who "disapproves" of our use of this or that word even to the point where the classic "OK" hand sign has been branded "fascist hand gesture." In fact, it's gotten so bad that I've had to just throw up my hands, shrug and say screw it all, I'm not playing this game anymore.

With that said allow me to quote the amazing and famous Lieutenant Uhura from Star Trek: "Offended? By a word? Why would I be offended? We no longer fear words." Yeah, there's a really good lesson, there. STOP FEARING WORDS!

QT: How is not creepy/predatory for people with male bodies aka men to demand access to women's single sex spaces where women are going to naked like locker rooms? by Penultimate_Penance in GCdebatesQT

[–]Penultimate_Penance[S] 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Trans men are not an easier front for predators, nor do they pose the same risk to women as transwomen. Thanks to self ID there are lot of transwomen that are unambiguously male, because they are male.

You are ignoring my point that it is predatory and creepy to violate women's consent when a male bodied person enters single sex spaces reserved for people female bodies.

Edit: Also if we don't allow trans people to change their driver's licenses and birth certificates we have an easy non intrusive way to verify who is actually male or female when needed if someone's actual sex is ambiguous thanks to body modification. Body modification is a choice. People who choose to modify their body should accept the consequences of that choice and not destroy the rights of other people to consent, safety, privacy and dignity.

Compare it to Ivy Valentine from the Soul Series (I saw some of your Youtube videos, so I know you know who I'm talking about), she's just blatant eye candy who happens to be a smart educated woman.

That's a very fair and accurate outlook. I like Ivy but in the sense that I like how in the story, she's this tragic character who's trying to free herself from her cursed blood. Her ending in SC3 always gets me. But that said, I know what she was intended for. I'm not the target demographic what with being a gay man so her design doesn't titulate me but I know that to the majority demographic, she was designed as nothing but shallow sex candy. Like they don't even give a reason why she dresses in BDSM attire whereas her alternate costumes usually have some sort of sense to them.

But I agree with you, comparing Bayonetta and Ivy, Bayonetta is not as shallow a design compared to the latter. Her design has purpose and character and despite the suggestive posing, it does feel like she is in control of herself and the whole "You can look but don't touch" is very true.

I always try to be very analytical when it comes to characters like this. It's why I said what I said about Ivy in my SC videos and mentioning what designs work and don't work for her (That Soul Calibur 4 outfit will always be one I despise lol) but with Bayonetta, I feel like she could be the embodiment of what a woman could feel like if she had unlimited power and facing the world with not a care in the world. Because Bayonetta may do some suggestive poses, it's because she knows she can and that if anyone were to mess with her, she can unleash her demonic power on them lol.

what a woman character designer would do (although more likely she would have a bit more of a grounded reality if what a woman would behave and dress like in her society in her character designs and development).

One thing that I always wanted to try asking is having women who are artists try and design what they would see as an awesome character design. I just can't think of many women in the gaming scene who are head directors who control what designs should be. I think kingdom Hearts has one? But I'm not sure. Either way, I'd like to see some women try their hand on this and then we could compare and contrast them against designs done by men.

I like the way you are thinking about it and it mostly makes sense to me.

Nowadays it's taboo to suggest that straight people got into relationships with gay people, bc everyone has decided that heterosexuality "isn't a choice", bc otherwise the gay rights movement will collapse or something. Everyone's got a sacred calf, it seems, inhibiting their common sense.

I feel like we should respect people sexual orientations though. I could talk about my experiences with straight men and they don’t make me to believe that someone being male in an abstract sense if everything else tells them female is ever a deal breaker for them, but straight men should still be able to have their orientation respected just like gay people. It’s just the right thing to do even if reality might be more complicated.
